Okay, so people aren't my thing.

I haven't tried to sketch people in a while so I went for it. It took a black and white photo of my boyfriend and I and some how ended up with a drawing of an asian couple. I gave it a shot, guess I won't be leaving my day job to do portraits anytime soon --that's unless its in Hong Kong apparently.

Slacking.

So I have been making stuff like crazy, but have been pretty bad about actually posting it everyday. Looks like I need a routine. Anyway, I made a handful of small items.
First I made a (1)pincushion/sewing container. Then I repapered a (2)Japanese screen (not all that creative, but I worked with ky hands). Then I took some (3)plain white flats I had and modified them to have a little more style using ribbon. (4) finally I made some magazine boxes.

I'm dressing up as pocohuntas(?) So I made my belt for the dress. It was quick, but came out how I liked.

Scraps.

September 19,2011

I had some leftover yarn from my infinity scarf, so I used it to make a matching beanie.  It took 3 tries, but I finally got it.

Repetitions.

Chilling at home.
As I went shopping to buy a few things I came across an item I've been wanting for a while- an infinity scarf. Simple, I know. I love the way they look and how cozy they feel.  After coming across the scarf I flipped over the tag to find it was $30. Being the resourceful/broke person I am, I decided to go to the craft store and buy a crochet needle and wool yard. I learned to crochet a long time ago, and figured I would dust off the old skills. Surprisingly, I finished the entire scarf in a day. Now, I just need fall to come to use it!

Ready. Set. Go.

California.

I got a little excited for the project and ended up making 3 ink drawings today during my travel.

The Project

September 17, 2011
DIA, Colorado

The "Sleepless Pursuit" is my newest project. "I'll sleep when I die" has sort of become my life for the last few years. While I was getting my bachelors, I worked 3 jobs, was a resident advisor, all while taking 18 units of community design work, and having what was as close to a social life as I could get.

After three years of focus on design, creativity, and innovation I realized that I haven't done any of those things for almost 5 months. While I was in school, Architecture was my world.  Without the structure of classes and projects I have become stagnant.  The working world has some how taken that inventive spark. Now my concerns revolve around getting funding in time to install this, that, the other thing in the building I manage; not how can I design something beautiful and functional.  I overlook the aesthetics and just try to get the job done.

Once I came to the realization that my world had drastically changed focus, I decided to do something about it. I'm being my own instructor. Assigning myself a project. For the next  100 days I am going to design/create at least one thing a day. Whether its drawing a quick sketch, painting, sewing, model building, drafting, or any other creative activity; I need to just do it.
