I am still really into dunnies, but decided it was time to rest the black and gold series. So, i decided to keep going with the somewhat organic curvalinear aesthetic but in more of a mosiac. I have one more frsh dunnie left before I need to go back to blick but I havent decided if I will keep going with the silver and seafoam or start something new

Dunny friend
I haven't done a lot of art lately but I've started on a new dunny. Im having some difficulties with the deco pen and making sure the paint isn't sticky. I've tried some fixative but its not helping much. Here's my progress so far.

Creative Solitude.
"I never found the companionship that was so companionable as solitude. We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers."
Henry David Thoreau
"I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity."
Albert Einstein
"In order to be open to creativity, one must have the capacity for constructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone."

Quotes.
"How soon 'not now' becomes 'never'."
- Martin Luther King Jr
"Awareness of universals is called conceiving, and a universal of which we are aware is called a concept."
-Bertrand Russell
"We want to make the best, for the most, for the least."
-Ray and Charles Eames
"Change does not roll on the wheels of inevitability, but comes throug continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man cant ride you unless your back is bent."
-Martin Luther King Jr.
Just a few things to consider.

Pocahontas & John Smith
I've been slacking pretty hard. But, I did take a good amount of creative time making Halloween costumes. I made both mine and Jonathans outfits from scratch. I really enjoyed sewimg now that I have a sewing machine.I went from having a needle and thread to having two sewing machines (circa 1978 and 1986) and a surger. Now that I have the tools I need and a whole bunch of fabric I can create a lot more.
Also, I got a new awesome desk with compartmemts that help me seperate my different crafts and other activities. Now, I know I've been slacking but I'm going to Seattle this week and hopefully I'll be refreshed and inspired. Part of my issue has been that I'm applying to grad schools. Now that I've graduatee, its a lot more difficult to get into school work after a nine hour day. I still have over a month but my GRE test is in about two and I'm not very ready.big really need to get focused.
A cool new thing is that I got a tablet! I'm writing this post via Toshiba thrive now. Hopefully this new toy will keep me together and organized. I need to get back into old"super Ari" mode.
Anyway, here is my full creation.

Okay, so people aren't my thing.
I haven't tried to sketch people in a while so I went for it. It took a black and white photo of my boyfriend and I and some how ended up with a drawing of an asian couple. I gave it a shot, guess I won't be leaving my day job to do portraits anytime soon --that's unless its in Hong Kong apparently.

Slacking.
So I have been making stuff like crazy, but have been pretty bad about actually posting it everyday. Looks like I need a routine. Anyway, I made a handful of small items.
First I made a (1)pincushion/sewing container. Then I repapered a (2)Japanese screen (not all that creative, but I worked with ky hands). Then I took some (3)plain white flats I had and modified them to have a little more style using ribbon. (4) finally I made some magazine boxes.

Scraps.

I had some leftover yarn from my infinity scarf, so I used it to make a matching beanie. It took 3 tries, but I finally got it.

Chilling at home.
As I went shopping to buy a few things I came across an item I've been wanting for a while- an infinity scarf. Simple, I know. I love the way they look and how cozy they feel. After coming across the scarf I flipped over the tag to find it was $30. Being the resourceful/broke person I am, I decided to go to the craft store and buy a crochet needle and wool yard. I learned to crochet a long time ago, and figured I would dust off the old skills. Surprisingly, I finished the entire scarf in a day. Now, I just need fall to come to use it!

Ready. Set. Go.
I got a little excited for the project and ended up making 3 ink drawings today during my travel.
